Flame Meditations

Flame Meditations

First method:

First method:

1. Light a candle and stare at the flame for 2 minutes. Don't let your attention wander.

2. Close your eyes and cup your hands over your eyes.

Concentrate on the "imprint" of the flame in the dark. The image will probably float back and forth in your field of vision. Always find it, bring it back, and concentrate on it for 4 minutes.

3. Relax, clear your thoughts, and focus on your breathing for a few minutes.

Concentrate on each breath you take.

What is this exercise good for:

This practice prepares the mind to concentrate on one point, which is very important for psychic/astral work. The thoughts of the average person are scattered and fade into nothingness. However, a trained mind is able to concentrate intensely, so that thoughts become focused like a laser beam and have power. In astral work, 100% concentration is what really matters. This practice also develops willpower, because a strong mind is not disturbed by anything. Do not be frustrated or impatient with yourself. It is normal for disturbing thoughts to appear in the beginning. Mastering complete concentration takes time, and this is also one of the most difficult parts of mind training.

Second method: (middle-of-the-road)

1. Concentrate on the flame for a few minutes.

2. Close your eyes and cup your hands over your eyes. Concentrate on the "imprint" of the flame in the darkness. The image will probably float back and forth in your field of vision.

3. Keeping your eyes still closed, bring the imprint closer. Move it back and forth. When you get comfortable with this, try to enter the imprint. You will notice that the imprint will shrink and change color. The bright image will turn pink, then red, and finally darken.

4. Repeat the exercise if you want.

What is this exercise good for:

This practice trains the mind and third eye to control psychic energy.
