Laya Yoga Kriya

Laya Yoga Kriya

The word Laya has several meanings: absorption, dissolution, emptiness.
These meanings all refer to the same thing:

• Absorption means the absorption of the limited self into the Divine Self (Atman)

• Dissolution means the dissolution of karmic imprints acquired during life(s) - that is, the complete deconditioning of your being, the liberation from karma.

• The "emptiness" refers to the primordial Ether itself, through which the practitioner becomes God.
As with HaTha Yoga, the roots reveal the full meaning.

• La = Earth

• Ya = Air/Sky.
Thus Laya Yoga is the ultimate union of Earth and Sky, Body and Soul. Through the now opened Sushumna Nadin, you lead the Serpent Power up the "Royal Path". From the Root Chakra to the Crown, from Earth to Sky.

On a practical level, Laya Yoga represents the second, meditative phase of Kundalini Yoga. It includes Mudra, Mantra, Bandha, Pranayama, Meditation.
Laya Yoga Kriya for Raising the Serpent Power:

A. Sit in Easy Pose with your back straight. Place your left hand in Gyan Mudra while closing your right nostril with your right thumb. Breathe deeply and forcefully through your left nostril, focusing on your sixth chakra, for 1-3 minutes. Once you are done, inhale, hold the breath for as long as you can, then exhale and rest for a minute. Repeat the process in reverse (through your right nostril.)

B. Apply prayer mudra, pressing your clasped hands to the center of your chest.
Begin to breathe deeply, focusing on the sixth chakra, for 2 minutes. Follow this with 1 minute of Breath of Fire.

C. Raise your hands to the sides at a height of 60 degrees. Palms face inwards in gyan mudra. Breathe deeply in this position for 1-3 minutes.

D. Using any meditative mudra, chant the following mantra:
Wk Aum Kar-A Satanam-A Sri Va-A Hej Guru Press each -A harder by lifting your chest slightly. This movement helps to guide the energy up through the fourth chakra. Visualize the power of the mantra spiraling the Serpent Power up your spine and out through the Crown.
11-31 minutes.

Beneficial effects:

1. From A to C, you prepare the entire body for the awakening of the kundalini force. You balance the Ida and Pingala Nadis (opening the central Sushumna). You unite the Prana-Apana forces (which creates the "Tapat"-Heat necessary for the awakening of the Kundalini), and you activate the upper chakras and glands, opening them as a gate for the Serpent Power.
Then the mantra leads the Kundalini energy from the Root to the Crown. In addition to the extraordinary power of the practice, it is also very safe. It not only increases the energy, but also stabilizes it.
2. It sharpens and strengthens your intuition and astral senses.
3. It increases your healing-regenerative ability.
4. It merges spiritual and physical perception. The state of being "either earthbound or unearthly" disappears.
