Mahamudra:  The Great  Seal

Execution: • position yourself in dandasana • pull your right leg to your side (as in hurdles) or place the foot on your thigh • grab your left foot with your left hand • reach under your left arm with your right hand and support the outside of your lower leg with your palm

Key principles: • only bend forward as far as you can keep your waist straight • keep your neck long and relaxed • tilt your pelvis forward as much as possible • keep your left foot planted on the ground • keep your pelvis and shoulder girdle facing forward

Effects: Strengthens the spinal extensors, stretches the hamstrings, strengthens the pelvic floor muscles. Activates all three bandhas - hence the name great seal.
